How to Care for Your Pet Kitten: Tiny But Mighty Kitties Are the Perfect Size for a Small Home
Kittens are one of the most popular pets in the world, and with good reason. Theyre cuddly, playful and adorable perfect for small homes. And while they may be small, kitties can pack a big punch when it comes to energy and activity levels.
To keep your kitten healthy and happy, follow these tips:
-
Feed Them Properly: A kittens diet should consist mostly of fresh food nothing canned or processed. Give them unlimited access to water as well. If you have more than one cat, make sure each one has its own designated feeding area so that everyone gets their fair share.
-
Exercise Them Often: Kitties love to play, but they also need plenty of exercise to stay healthy and active. When theyre not playing outside (or scratching post), try getting them involved in some gentle exercises like batting at a toy mouse or chasing a laser dot around the room.
Kittens need about 20 minutes per day of physical activity; more if theyre young or inactive cats.
-
Keep Their Environment Clean: A clean environment is key for keeping your cat healthy both physically and emotionally. Regularly wipe down all surfaces your cat uses including furniture, floors and walls with a pet-safe disinfectant such as Clorox wipes . Make sure there are no areas where your cat can hide or climb out; remove any potential hiding spots by taping off open spaces with painter’s tape . Also keep an eye on any new furniture or toys your kitten might get into; make sure they’re safe before letting them play with them.
-
Provide Plenty of Toys: Toys are great way to keep your kitten entertained without having to resort to destructive behavior like chewing on things or clawing at doors/windows/furniture etc.. Some great options include colorful balls, soft plush toys , rattles , puzzle games , wooden blocks , rubber ducks etc.. Just be careful not to overfill their toy box ; limit each toy item to about two thirds of its original size so it lasts longer .
