Raising Healthy, Happy Pregnant Rabbits: Pro Tips
by Warlax
There’s no doubt that rabbits are adorable and make great pets, but there are a few things you need to know before getting one. Rabbits are pregnant for around six weeks, and during this time they will require special care. Here are some tips on how to take care of your pregnant rabbit:
-
Provide a safe place for your bunny to give birth. A hutch or large cage is perfect, as is providing plenty of hay, fresh vegetables and water. Make sure the space is clean and free from drafts or other dangers that could injure your bunny or her baby.
-
Keep an eye on your rabbit’s health at all times. If she seems sick, contact your vet immediately. She may be experiencing labor pains or some other serious complication.
-
Watch out for predators! While rabbits aren’t usually preyed upon by predators in the wild (due to their size and shy nature), it isn’t impossible for them to get captured by one in captivity. Be sure to keep an eye out for any strange activity outside the house – if something looks suspicious, don’t bring home that rabbit!
There you have it – these are just a few basic tips on how to take care of a pregnant rabbit properly!
