How to Care for Your Mouse: Tips and Tricks
If you have a mouse, taking care of it is important. Here are some tips and tricks on how to take proper care of your pet mouse.
-
Choose the right cage. A small, wire mesh cage is best for mice because they can easily move around and they dont get as matted down in their cages as rats or other larger animals do. Make sure there are plenty of toys and places to hide for your mouse so that it doesnt get bored.
-
Feed your mouse a healthy diet. Mice need high-quality food that contains fiber, vitamins, minerals, and protein in order to stay healthy. Try feeding them a mix of fresh vegetables and fruits, cooked chicken or fish, yogurt, boiled eggs, cereal bars with raisins or nuts inside them, or specially formulated pet mice food pellets.
-
Keep your mouse clean. Mice like clean surroundings so make sure you keep its cage clean at all times by scrubbing the sides and top regularly with a mild soap solution (warm water will also work). If your mouse starts running around its cage excessively or becomes very active when dirty areas are accessible outside the cage (a sign that it is not getting enough exercise), then you may need to give it more attention perhaps by providing an extra-large cage instead of a small one in order to ensure its health and well-being.
