How to Care for Your Pet During Dog Pregnancy

Its that time of year again when dogs are pregnant and owners are wondering how to care for their furry friends. Here are some tips on how to take care of your dog during pregnancy:

  1. Provide a safe and comfortable environment for your dog. Make sure the room shes in is clean, well-lit, and free from drafts or other hazards that could injure her while shes pregnant. If you have a large backyard or patio, let her out there as much as possible; otherwise, provide plenty of toys and playtime inside.

  2. Keep track of your dogs weight gain. A healthy dog will gain between 2 and 4 pounds during pregnancy (although this number can vary depending on the breed), so be sure to monitor her weight regularly if you want to avoid any health risks associated with overweightness or obesity in later life. If your dog starts losing weight suddenly, consult a vet immediately; it could be indicative of something more serious such as toxemia (a dangerous build-up of toxins in the blood) or an early labour phase.
  3. Offer food/water bowls near each other so your dog doesnt have to go too far for meals or water breaks; make sure theyre always full enough so she doesnt overeat or drink too much water in one sitting, which can lead to dehydration symptoms such as panting, restlessness, drooling, vomiting, diarrhea etc.. Be mindful not to overfeed her either underfeeding can also lead to obesity problems down the road! And remember: dont give your pregnant pup human food only feed her canine-appropriate fare like kibble biscuits, raw meaty bones etc
